Psalm 13

Psalm 13 is short, and may be simple memorize. This was written when he was fleeing from King Saul, who wanted to kill David because he viewed him as a threat. He had realized that the Lord was now with David instead of him.

Prayer for Help in Trouble.

For the music director. A Psalm of David.

How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long am I to feel anxious in my soul,
With grief in my heart all the day?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

When facing a disability, like a traumatic brain injury, you may feel alone and forgotten – like you’re standing still, but the world is passing you by.

Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,
And my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
And my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.

You may feel overwhelmed, but Jesus has promised that He will be with those who call out to Him. Jesus commanded his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” He will be with those of us who believe in Him as Lord even in the hardest, darkest times.

But I have trusted in Your faithfulness;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has looked after me.

We can trust in God to protect us. He didn’t let King David go, and you can also hold on to Him and know that He won’t let you go either. He’ll be with you through your trial.

Have a blessed week!
