Psalm 5

Let’s continue with Psalm 5!

Listen to my words, Lord,
Consider my sighing.
Listen to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God,
For to You I pray.
In the morning, Lord, You will hear my voice;
In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch.

Sometimes, it can feel as if no one hears you. God however, is always available when you call on Him. His help doesn’t always look like we think it will, but it’s the best for us (OK, so maybe that happens often). You can trust that His plans are what is best though. According to Philippians 4:17, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Trust in Him. He is ready to fulfill our needs. He knows the future, and we don’t.

For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness;
No evil can dwell with You.
The boastful will not stand before Your eyes;
You hate all who do injustice. You destroy those who speak lies;
The Lord loathes the person of bloodshed and deceit.
But as for me, by Your abundant graciousness I will enter Your house,
At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.

Verses 4-7 tell us how wonderful it is that God is gracious and cannot stand evil. He is our Redeemer and can heal our wounds. This continues by talking of righteousness.

Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of my enemies;
Make Your way straight before me.
For there is nothing trustworthy in their mouth;
Their inward part is destruction itself.
Their throat is an open grave;
They flatter with their tongue.
Make them pay, God;
Have them fall by their own schemes!
Scatter them in the multitude of their wrongdoings,
For they are rebellious against You.

Verses 8-10 tell us how we are set apart from our enemies. While we can become whole in Christ, those individuals who do not follow Him will reap the result of their wrong choices – destruction. Those of us who believe in Christ as Lord and Savior may endure hardships and trials, but we can know that we will be rescued.

But rejoice, all who take refuge in You,
Sing for joy forever!
And may You shelter them,
That those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
For You bless the righteous person, Lord,
You surround him with favor as with a shield.

Verses 11-12 continue to remind us of how we can seek refuge in God and He will protect us.

Have a wonderful week!

Sometimes, it can feel as if no one hears you. God however, is always available when you call on Him…
