More Spring Gardening!

First Squash Leaves

Good morning!  Today, I will be starting more squash seeds, starting a second round of tomato seeds, starting some cantaloupe, repotting some of my starts, starting some more herbs, and scouting my lawn again for weeds.  When you scope your lawn every day for dandelions, it becomes manageable and quicker each time.  It takes longer the first year, but once you have reseeded your lawn a few times, it becomes easier.  Hopefully, this will be a fruitful year!

I just started more vegetable seeds and transferred some to bigger pots.  I will seed some directly the next time I head to the garden, but I will still start some here at home just in case some unwelcome garden visitors opt to eat the seeds I plant – it has happened before.  I need some backup starters just in case.  This also allows me to compensate for the rainy and cooler-than-typical weather.

This morning, I read Psalm 56 in a chronological study Bible (meaning that chapters are placed in the order they likely occurred, rather than as whole books like you see with the typical New International Version (NIV) or King James versions.  In this version, a couple of Psalms have been placed in the midst of First Samuel, where King Saul is pursuing David with the intent of killing him because he believes David is a threat to his rule.  I also read Job 2 in my Spanish Bible – I read it in Spanish for language maintenance purposes.  Psalm 56:1-4 (NIV) says:

Be merciful to me, my God,

for my enemies are in hot pursuit;

all day long they press their attack.

My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

In God, whose word I praise –

in God I trust and am not afraid.  What can mere mortals do to me?

In the military, you face attacks of some kind (essentially) each and every day.  God is always there for you – He sees what you are going through and knows the outcome.  He puts each of us in specific places at a specific time for a reason.  Everything is supremely timed for His perfect purposes – even if they may not seem so perfect right now.
